Stud Hub

A Stud Hub is used to guide the wheels in place. Once the wheel nuts are torqued, the tire load (and braking load) is transmitted to the hub by friction through the mounting interface. The pilots take no load during service and only support the weight of the wheel and drum at installation. The centering of each lug nut in the stud hole of the wheel will cause the wheel to be centered on the hub. The hub hole in the wheel only serves to allow hub clearance.
